Effective Date: August 27, 2026
Welcome to Bero-Netebo. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Bero-Netebo website, web application, online educational sessions, community forum, membership services, Plant Library, lesson library, dictionary tools, and related features (collectively, the “Service”).
Bero-Netebo (“Bero-Netebo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a nonprofit organization based in Renton, Washington, United States.
By creating an account, purchasing a membership, booking a session, participating in the community, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.
1. About Bero-Netebo
Bero-Netebo is a nonprofit organization providing educational and cultural resources relating to plants, traditional knowledge, Indigenous history and culture, plant-related education, community learning, and related subjects.
The Service may include:
- Educational materials and lessons;
- Information about Amazonian plants and traditional plant knowledge;
- Traditional and Indigenous knowledge shared through the Plant Library;
- Live online educational sessions;
- Community discussions and Q&A;
- Indigenous history and cultural education;
- A Shipibo–English dictionary tool;
- Other educational resources added to the Service over time.
The information available through the Service may come from traditional Indigenous knowledge, community knowledge, oral traditions, word-of-mouth sources, cultural teachings, instructors, and other educational sources. Such information may vary between communities, traditions, regions, teachers, and cultural contexts.
Bero-Netebo provides this material for educational and cultural purposes. The inclusion of information in the Service does not mean that Bero-Netebo independently verifies, endorses, or scientifically establishes every traditional claim, use, preparation, or practice described.
2. Educational and Traditional Knowledge DisclaimerNot Medical Advice
Bero-Netebo is an educational and cultural resource. The Service is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, or individualized healthcare recommendations.
Information about plants, traditional uses, preparations, reported properties, wellness practices, or health-related traditions is provided to help users learn about traditional and cultural knowledge.
Descriptions of traditional plant uses are not recommendations that you use a particular plant, preparation, dosage, or practice for a health condition.
References to conditions, symptoms, wellness, healing, or other health-related subjects should not be understood as a recommendation that a plant or traditional practice can diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or manage a disease or medical condition.
Traditional knowledge presented in the Service may reflect the beliefs, experiences, practices, and teachings of particular Indigenous or community sources. It should not automatically be interpreted as scientifically established medical information.
Bero-Netebo does not provide individualized recommendations based on a user’s medical history, medications, conditions, symptoms, pregnancy, allergies, or other personal circumstances.
Users should consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional regarding medical conditions, medications, potential interactions, pregnancy, allergies, or other health concerns.
Traditional Preparation Information
Where the Plant Library describes traditional preparations, the information is presented as a description of a traditional or cultural practice rather than a recipe, prescription, dosage recommendation, or instruction for personal treatment.
Language such as “traditional accounts describe,” “traditional sources report,” or “in certain traditional practices” is intended to identify the cultural context of information rather than instruct users to perform a particular practice.
3. Plant Library and Indigenous Knowledge
The Plant Library is intended to document and provide educational access to traditional knowledge concerning Amazonian plants.
Much of the Plant Library information may originate from Indigenous and community knowledge, oral traditions, traditional teachings, word-of-mouth sources, and other cultural sources rather than peer-reviewed scientific literature.
Because traditional knowledge can vary by community and context, Bero-Netebo does not represent that every traditional use or reported property has been scientifically studied, clinically proven, or medically validated.
Plant entries may describe traditional uses, cultural associations, reported properties, traditional preparations, ceremonial practices, or other knowledge shared within particular traditions.
The Plant Library should be understood as an educational resource about traditional knowledge and culture—not as a medical reference, treatment guide, prescription, or source of individualized healthcare advice.
4. Eligibility and Age Requirement
Bero-Netebo is intended for adults.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, purchase a membership, book a session, participate in the community, or otherwise use the Service.
Bero-Netebo does not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to create an account or use the Service.
By creating an account or using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.
If we learn that an individual under 18 has created an account or is using the Service, we may suspend or terminate the account and take reasonable steps to remove personal information that we are not legally required to retain.
If you believe that an individual under 18 has created an account or is using the Service, please contact us at .
You may not use the Service if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.
5. Account Registration and Login
Certain features of the Service require an account and authentication.
When creating an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account information reasonably current.
Your account may require information such as your email address and username or display name.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for taking reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
Bero-Netebo currently provides account-based login through the authentication methods made available on the Service. Google account sign-in is not currently offered as an authentication method.
You may not:
- Use another person’s account without authorization;
- Allow another person to use your account in a manner that violates these Terms;
- Impersonate another person or organization;
- Provide false information concerning your identity or eligibility;
- Attempt to bypass authentication or membership restrictions.
If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, please contact us promptly at .
6. Memberships
Some features of the Service are available through paid annual memberships.
Bero-Netebo may offer different membership levels, including a Community Membership and a Full Library Membership.
The specific benefits, price, billing terms, and applicable conditions of each membership are presented to you before you complete your purchase.
Memberships are billed annually. Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase:
- Memberships automatically renew each year unless canceled before the next renewal;
- The applicable membership fee is charged once per annual billing period;
- You may cancel your membership at any time;
- Cancellation turns off future automatic renewal;
- Canceling does not normally provide a refund for the current paid membership period;
- You may continue to use eligible membership benefits through the end of the period already paid for, subject to these Terms and the continued availability of the Service.
The Community Membership may include benefits such as quarterly live educational sessions, community forum access, and support for Native community preservation.
The Full Library Membership may include the Community Membership benefits plus access to the expanding Plant Library, additional educational lessons, Indigenous history and culture content, the Shipibo–English dictionary tool, and other content added to the Service.
Membership benefits may change, expand, or be updated over time.
7. Payment Processing
Membership payments may be processed through third-party payment providers, including Wix and Wix Payments.
Bero-Netebo does not intentionally store users’ full payment-card information.
Payment providers may collect and process payment and billing information according to their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, and legal obligations.
Bero-Netebo may receive limited information about your membership or subscription status so that we can provide and administer your membership.
8. Refunds
Unless required by applicable law, membership payments are non-refundable.
Bero-Netebo does not generally provide prorated refunds for unused portions of an annual membership period.
If you believe you were charged incorrectly or experience a payment problem, please contact so that we can review the matter.
Nothing in these Terms limits a refund or other consumer right that cannot legally be waived.
9. Cancellation and Account Deletion
You may cancel your membership or delete your account through features provided within the Service, where available.
Canceling a membership prevents future automatic renewal but does not normally provide a refund for the current paid membership period.
Deleting your account is intended to stop future automatic membership renewal and remove your Bero-Netebo account record, subject to information that may be retained for legal, security, administrative, customer-service, backup, or other legitimate purposes.
Deleting an account does not necessarily delete community posts or replies previously submitted by the account.
Previous community content may remain available to other authorized users and may continue to display the username or display name associated with that content.
Support communications previously sent to Bero-Netebo may also be retained for customer-service and administrative purposes.
Payment and transaction records maintained by payment providers may remain according to those providers’ policies and applicable legal requirements.
10. Educational Sessions and Zoom
Bero-Netebo may provide live online educational sessions through Zoom or other third-party video conferencing services.
When you register for or participate in an online session, information necessary to schedule, provide, and administer the session may be shared with the applicable video conferencing provider.
Your use of Zoom or another third-party platform may also be subject to that provider’s own terms, privacy policy, security practices, and data practices.
Bero-Netebo is not responsible for the independent privacy, security, or data practices of third-party video conferencing providers.
Educational sessions are intended for general educational and cultural purposes and are not medical consultations.
An instructor’s statements, opinions, experiences, or teachings do not necessarily represent the views of Bero-Netebo.
Booking or attending a session does not establish a doctor-patient, therapist-client, or other professional healthcare relationship.
11. Community Forum
The Service may include a community forum where members can post questions, comments, discussions, and other content.
You are responsible for the content you submit.
You agree not to use the community to:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse another person;
- Impersonate another person;
- Post unlawful, fraudulent, or intentionally misleading content;
- Share another person’s private information without permission;
- Post malicious code or other harmful material;
- Use the community for unauthorized advertising or spam;
- Provide individualized medical advice while representing yourself as a Bero-Netebo healthcare provider;
- Present Plant Library information as a prescription or individualized medical instruction.
Bero-Netebo may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms or interfere with the safety or operation of the community.
12. User Content
You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service, subject to the rights necessary for Bero-Netebo to operate the Service.
By submitting content to the community, you grant Bero-Netebo a non-exclusive right to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate and provide the community features.
You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that doing so does not knowingly violate another person’s rights.
13. Respect for Indigenous and Community Knowledge
Bero-Netebo recognizes that Indigenous and community knowledge may have cultural, historical, spiritual, and community significance.
Users should treat traditional knowledge shared through the Service respectfully and should not misrepresent traditional teachings as their own.
Information made available for educational purposes should not be assumed to grant permission to commercially exploit, reproduce, appropriate, or otherwise use culturally sensitive knowledge outside the context in which it was shared.
14. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, design, organization, software, branding, text, graphics, and other materials are owned by or licensed to Bero-Netebo unless otherwise indicated.
You may access and use the Service for personal, lawful, educational purposes consistent with these Terms.
You may not reproduce, redistribute, sell, scrape, commercially exploit, or systematically copy substantial portions of the Service without permission, except where permitted by applicable law.
15. Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on third-party services for functions such as payment processing, video conferencing, hosting, authentication, email delivery, or other technical services.
These services may include providers such as Wix, Wix Payments, Zoom, and other providers used by Bero-Netebo from time to time.
Third-party services may have their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, and data practices.
Bero-Netebo is not responsible for the independent practices or availability of third-party services.
16. Service Availability and Changes
Bero-Netebo may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue portions of the Service from time to time.
Educational content, Plant Library entries, membership benefits, session schedules, instructors, and other features may change.
We do not guarantee that any particular content, instructor, session, plant entry, or feature will always remain available.
17. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided for educational and cultural purposes.
To the extent permitted by law, Bero-Netebo makes no warranties that the Service or its content will always be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular purpose.
In particular, Bero-Netebo does not warrant that information concerning traditional plant uses, reported properties, preparations, wellness practices, or cultural teachings is medically accurate, scientifically validated, safe for a particular person, or appropriate for a particular health condition.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Bero-Netebo and its officers, directors, employees, instructors, volunteers, and representatives will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
19. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Bero-Netebo and its officers, directors, employees, instructors, volunteers, and representatives from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, misuse of the Service, or violation of another person’s rights.
20. Account Suspension or Termination
Bero-Netebo may suspend or terminate an account if we reasonably believe the account has violated these Terms, created a security risk, engaged in fraudulent activity, interfered with the Service, or otherwise created a significant risk to Bero-Netebo or other users.
Termination does not eliminate obligations that by their nature should continue after termination.
21. Privacy
Bero-Netebo’s collection and use of personal information is described in the Bero-Netebo Privacy Policy.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have had an opportunity to review the Privacy Policy.
22. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
23. Changes to These Terms
Bero-Netebo may update these Terms from time to time.
When material changes are made, Bero-Netebo may provide notice through the Service or other reasonable means.
Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
